"Dual Service Veteran" 1939 Mauser Banner Conversion Rig
Price:
6900$
Discription:
An exceptionally desirable 1939 Mauser Banner P.08 Luger, serial number 2509w, representing one of the most fascinating branches of Luger collecting. Originally manufactured as a police-issued Mauser Banner pistol and later diverted or converted for military service, this outstanding example remains accompanied by its complete rig and both matching-numbered magazines. Such police-to-military transition pistols document the evolving sidearm requirements of the Third Reich during the opening years of World War II.
1939-dated Mauser Banner police Lugers are among the scarcer Banner variations. Early police Banner pistols were produced in limited quantities and are identified by their police acceptance markings and commercial-style Banner configuration. Collectors have documented several police acceptance variants (Eagle/L, Eagle/F, Eagle/K), some of which are exceptionally rare.
Serial number 2509w falls within the desirable 1939 production period and is especially attractive because it remains a complete rig with two matching magazines. Matching dual-magazine police rigs are significantly more difficult to find than standard military Lugers and are highly sought after by advanced police and Mauser Banner collectors." Police units often numbered magazines to the pistol, and complete surviving sets command substantial premiums.
