Price:
1350$
Discription:
An exceptionally historic Mauser HSc manufactured during the brief and fascinating period immediately following Germany's surrender in 1945, when the Mauser factory at Oberndorf operated under French military control. Produced from remaining wartime parts and existing machinery, these scarce transitional pistols represent the final chapter of wartime Mauser production and the beginning of French occupation manufacture." Production of the HSc resumed under French control in 1945–1946 after the Oberndorf factory fell within the French occupation zone.
Unlike standard wartime HSc pistols, French-controlled examples occupy a unique collector category. They were assembled in limited quantities, often displaying distinctive French inspection characteristics such as RW/WR acceptance markings and the omission of some late-war German manufacturing practices. Many were subsequently issued to French military personnel and later saw service in French Indochina.
Combining wartime Mauser craftsmanship with immediate postwar European history, the French Occupation HSc stands among the most intriguing variants of the HSc family. Produced during a period measured in months rather than years, these pistols are highly prized by collectors seeking unusual transitional military arms.
